Marine Plywood

Marine Plywood is the ‘Rolls Royce’ of plywood's. Manufactured to AS/NZS 2272 – 1996, it has a permanent Type A phenolic (Marine) bond and originates from selected species based on density, bending strength, impact resistance and surface finishing characteristics. We stock Austral Plywood's’ Marine Plywood which is manufactured from plantation hoop pine, a designated marine species.

Ideal applications include: boat building internals and externals, garage doors, models, musical instruments, paddles, skim boards, skate ramps and furniture requiring exposed edges or clear finishing.

Exterior Plywood
Exterior plywood is a high quality plywood suitable for semi-exposed conditions with a high grade face and a lesser grade back. It is manufactured from hoop pine, a designated marine species to AS/NZS 2271 - 1999 and has a permanent Type A phenolic (Marine) bond. It is dimensionally stable and easy to work. We stock Austral Plywood's Hoop Pine Exterior Plywood. It provides an excellent substrate for high quality exterior paint.

Interior Plywood
Hoop Pine Interior Plywood is manufactured to AS 2270 - 1999 and is used in non-structural, interior applications where a high quality aesthetic finish is required. Typical applications include internal wall paneling, furniture and fitments, interior door skins, ceiling linings, acoustic panels and furniture with exposed edges and clear finish. Interior plywood must not be used in exposed, wet or damp conditions.

Structural Plywood
C-D and D-D A-bond structural plywood is manufactured for its structural integrity as per AS/NZS 2269 – 2004 rather than aesthetic qualities. It can be used in marine structural applications, hording, internal ramps, and shop fitting and cabinet making applications where aesthetics are not important.

B-B A-bond Hoop Pine Structural is a structural grade plywood. It is also very popular in marine fit-out applications, shop fitting and cabinet making. A full Hoop Pine construction makes for a very stable plywood, and the closed grain veneer produces a superb paint finish.

Polish Grade Flooring
Revolution Wood Panels offers Austral Plywood's’ A-faced Hoop Pine plywood flooring. The face veneer is a selected A-grade 2.5mm hoop pine veneer, suitable for clear finishing. The plywood is manufactured to the AS/NZS 2269-2004 standard and complies with the PAA-JAS-ANZ Quality Control Program.

Hoop Pine flooring has superior strength and stiffness relative to weight, and is easily installed by one person. This enables the floor to be laid efficiently and is very cost effective for those looking for the comfortable feel of a natural plywood timber floor.

Please note: Do not use appearance grade plywood flooring as a platform during construction. If exposed to the weather, checking of the face will occur. For best results, the floor should be laid just prior to finishing.

Teak and Ash Decking
Manufactured by Austral Plywood, we offer a Teak and Ash exterior decking plywood (plank style) in 2400mm x 1200mm in 5mm, 7mm, 13mm & 18mm thickness.

This product is constructed using a Hoop Pine A-grade core and back. The Teak and Ash face is 1mm thick, thus providing a durable surface. An A-bond (Marine) glue is used to ensure a permanent bond.

Ideal applications include: external and internal decking for boats, stair treads, benchtops, and shop flooring.

Acoustic Plywood
Plywood has become very popular in commercial applications where the natural warmth of timber is combined with the acoustic properties of panel perforations. Sizes and thicknesses for this product are 1800mm x 900mm, 1800mm x 1200mm, 2400mm x 900mm, 2400mm x 1200mm, 2700mm x 900mm and 2700mm x 1200mm, in thicknesses of 6mm (5 ply) and 9mm. Species available vary from the standard Hoop Pine through to most species available in a timber veneer.
  Acoustic Plywood
Interior hoop pine plywood uses a white glue system, giving a
lighter, brighter and more consistent colour.

Fire Retarded Plywood
This type of plywood has undergone a treatment process that leaves the panel free of surface residue and discoloration. Natural air drying of all panels avoids surface checking and veneer lifting, and provides an excellent surface for a clear finish, lime wash or painting. Each panel is stamped on the back to identify the relevant treatment and a certificate of fire retardancy is issued on completion of the particular project. The process is certified by C.S.I.R.O. to AS 1530 Part 3.

Cladding Plywood
Revolution Wood Panels supplies plywood claddings which are decorative sheets with a band-sawn surface, and optional groove profile. This cost-effective plywood can be used in residential, commercial and industrial buildings for cladding and it has bracing properties. Its treatment, textured finish and weather grooves are designed especially for exterior use.

Cladding plywood is produced from Pinus veneers and bonded with a permanent Type A phenolic (Marine) bond. The finished sheets are preservative treated to provide long-term protection from decay.

Cladding plywood is also available pre-primed with an advanced powder coating process that has been specially developed for substrates prior to top coating. This process is known as climate priming. With a noticeably smoother surface, climate primed claddings allow for easier top coat applications and give you more square-metre coverage per litre of paint.
  Plywood cladding

  • can be used for bracing as well as cladding
  • allows for design versatility
  • is cost-effective, lightweight and easy to handle
  • requires no special tools and is quick and easy to use
  • has a permanent (marine) glue bond
  • is preservative treated against decay
  • has good thermal and sound insulation.

Further, with climate primed claddings, you can save on labour and finishing costs.

Formply

Formply is a structural plywood manufactured to Australian Standard AS/NZS 2269 - 2004. It has a high-density overlay (HDO) of phenolic resin impregnated paper which is bonded to the plywood. It is ideal for concrete formwork but can be suitable for other general purpose applications given its water impervious HDO. The overlay helps to protect the face veneer and provides a sound surface for the poured concrete.
